It is with great pride that us of Pizzul Marmi Aurisina announce that our grey marble Aurisina Lumachella has been awarded as the Best of StonExpo/Marmo+Mac in the "Style & Design" Category at The International Surface Event 2019 held in Las Vegas (US) between the 23rd and the 26th of January 2019.

The assignment of the award was determined by a panel of judges appointed by the official publication sponsor Stone World.

Let's get familiar with this unique product of nature by looking at some key facts:

The stone

Aurisina Lumachella is a grey marble with fossils characterised by a grey background that features a variable presence of shell-shaped fossils.

The quarry

The quarrying of Aurisina Lumachella is exclusive to a quarry located in the province of Trieste (North East of Italy) which is nestled between the Adriatic Sea and the Karst Plateau.

The applications

Being a very hard and compact stone, Aurisina Lumachella can be used sawn finish or processed in several finishes including polished, honed, brushed, bush-hammered, sandblasted, flamed and waterjet, proving to be suitable for a variety of structural and decorative applications including external and internal flooring and cladding, monuments and design objects.

A curiousity

Aurisina Lumachella is named after the village where the quarry is located, "Aurisina", and the peculiar shape of its fossils that resembles the shell of a snail, hence "Lumachella", namely "little snail" in Italian.

On a final note, in a stone industry that is flooded with thousands of options, we gladly acknowledge that proposing a distinctive and unique material seems to represent an effective way to differentiate from the competition and stand out from the crowd. In this respect, our Aurisina Lumachella surely fits right in.
